​MY CREDENTIALS

I received my multiple subject teaching credential from

California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 2012. 

​

I have worked as a substitute teacher in seven school districts, as a Reading Specialist, through an independent company, in California, and as a tutor for over 20 years! I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham reading approach intended primarily for use with persons who have difficulty with reading, spelling, and writing of the sort associated with dyslexia. I primarily work with children in early elementary education (ages 3-12).

I have three little ones of my own and my greatest joy is being their mama.

MY PHILOSOPHY

My goal as an educator is to help all students find joy in learning, setting them up to be life long-learners. I am passionate about reclaiming wonder in our children's education and believe learning should be delight-driven, literature-based, and relationship-rich. When possible, learning should be hands on because experiential learning is the most long-lasting teacher. I want my students to feel inspired to leverage their lives, privilege, and opportunities to leave the world more beautiful than they found it.

I strive to reach a student's heart before their head and create a safe environment where they can flourish. I encourage self-confidence, perseverance, growth-mindset, critical-thinking, perspective and purpose for learning, mutual respect, character development, and citizenship.

Lastly, almost everything that can be learned indoors, can be learned outdoors. Let's make the world our classroom!
